Sandy

1. We are all safe and fine.
2. Power is out and not scheduled to return until 3 pm, November 1. We lost power about 7:30 pm on Monday, the 29th.
3. The attic fan cover blew off during the storm. Matt put up a temporary patch to get us through the night. We found a roofer to come and put a real patch on today. They also patched some siding that blew off as well.
4. We are running our generator for an hour or two every couple of hours to keep the freezer & fridge cold enough and to run the sump pump. We also connect the Verizon box to supply phone and internet.
5. Our cell phones don’t work and the home phone works as long as we keep charging the battery in the fios box.
6. We have gas hot water and a gas stove so we can shower and enjoy hot meals. I’m quite thankful for that.

spooky

Greta has been obsessed with all the decorating the house for Halloween. This weekend Matt finally got all the supplies and made some decorations with the girls.

He bought a big bale of hay to make scarecrows. We searched the house for old clothes and although our scarecrows look a little fancy, these were the clothes we found that had holes in them, so they are what were sacrificed.

Here is the result:

While he was busy working the girls enjoyed playing in all the hay.

picture day

We decided not the buy the overpriced school pictures again this year. The cheapest package is $30 for 1 – 4×5 and 4 wallets, plus the class picture. We bought the class picture and I took some individual shots before we left. Greta wasn’t that cooperative, but eh whatever. Eloise of course wanted to join in and was much more willing than Greta.

And, yes, both of them have pretty banged up faces these days. I attempted to put Beatrice in and got this kind of cute picture.

My sister visited last week. This is my favorite picture I got of the four of them. This picture is totally Greta and Eloise.

The other night we looked outside and this is what we saw. One direction:

busy bees

It seems like we are running a marathon over here and yet, I know most of you are much busier than we are. I’m a homebody and we haven’t had nearly enough time at home for my liking and I know it is only get to get worse as the years go on and the kids get more and more involved in things outside of the house. Here are some things we have done.

1. Attended my high school friend’s daughter’s rice ceremony.

2. Beatrice is crawling and has teeth (3 have broken through and we are still waiting on the 4th to break through)!

3. Went to the zoo with my sister.

4. Greta takes dance once a week. Eloise, Beatrice, and I are taking a music class, which we try to go to twice a week. All the girls are now in swimming lessons (2 on Saturdays, 1 on Friday, so we get to make two trips to the YMCA).

5. Beatrice’s nose is doing just fine and we finally get to visit the dermatologist only every 6 weeks instead of every 4! She will still be on the medicine for another long while, until around 16-18 months.
