backyard fun

It is so nice to be able to enjoy the outside again. Felicity loves playing out in the backyard. The other children often go running back inside screaming about some sort of bug. Hopefully they will get used to them and enjoy being outside more.

Here are some pictures of the girls enjoying the outside before a bug came and flew near them.

Let’s see our tulips have bloomed in the front yard and are quite lovely. It was definitely a challenge to get a picture with everyone some what happy. I tried to convince them to do a completely grumpy picture (since everyone has been so grumpy here lately), but that didn’t quite work out either. And I got some individuals, although Beatrice wouldn’t participate in that one. Oh well.

Last week Felicity kept somehow getting a hold of this pink marker even though I was putting it out of her reach (maybe one of those sneaky big sisters was giving it to her, even though they have denied it) and gave herself some nice lipstick and nose, so she looked like baby Beatrice with her hemangioma on her nose.

And Felicity won the front tooth race.

We have to the canal for a walk, the wildflower preserve to explore, to our neighborhood playground and another picnic. We’ve been busy outside and loving it!

outside time!

The weather has been simply wonderful here lately, so we have been spending lots of time outside. We started picnicking this week and it was lots of fun and we got to discover a new park and playground.

I’ve realized I take way fewer pictures in the winter because the lighting in our house is just awful and makes it difficult to get pretty pictures, not to mention the clutter and mess that is always in the background of pictures taken inside our house.

Here are a few from a recent front lawn waiting for daddy to get home from work photo session.

As you can see everyone is a little feisty towards the end of the day, tackling each other, jumping in front of each other’s pictures, making silly faces.

Spring is here!

I think spring is finally here! Our yard is starting to come alive with color. Every year I try to get a picture of the girls in front of our lovely forsythia plants and this time we got a decent one (or two) on the first try! Now all I have to get is some individuals of them.

Two firsts

On this trip we had two firsts for the kids (and likely for us).

On the first flight, there was a man who was actively consuming alcohol mixed in his coke bottle and was being kind of loud and annoying, not really threatening or anything, but kind of pestering the flight attendant. While she was doing her announcements, he was constantly responding with a ‘woo’. Right when we were about to pull away she stopped in the middle of her safety instructions and got on the phone. After a while two cops showed up and asked him to come with them. They drove him off the tarmac in their cars. I think someone has been escorted off a plane I was on before, but not the girls.

The second new thing was a little boy, about 18 months old wandering down his driveway into the road. We of course stopped and brought him back to his house, where his father was searching the house for him. He must have gotten out somehow (the back gate was open). Strange. Good thing we weren’t driving very fast around that corner.

Easter in FL

We went to FL to visit my parents for Easter. My sister who lives in NC was able to come down as well, so everyone was together, which was so nice.

The weather was wonderful and a nice break from the still too cold for my liking weather we are having here in PA. We got to spend lots of time outside playing at the park, in the backyard, washing the truck, and at the splash pad. We even dipped our toes in the pool, but it was still a bit too cold for swimming (at least for me).

The Easter bunny was able to find CeCe and Grandaddy’s house and leave some eggs in the yard for the girls.

IMG_4027-001

In some of the eggs were some stick on mustaches, which the girls modeled with grandaddy.

Here we are all dressed up in our Easter clothes, ready to head to mass.

After mass we went out to brunch and were able to see a VERY tall Easter bunny. Greta was the only one interested in going near him.

This week

Greta lost her first top tooth! It has been loose for so long and it finally fell out.

IMG_3835-001

Felicity can now balance with no hands! I saw her get up in the middle of the floor the other day without using anything to pull her self up on either. She just turned 10 months yesterday, so there is a good chance she will walk before her 1st birthday. Eloise is the only one of our kids who has walked before a year.

IMG_3881-001

We got some bunny ears from our adopted grandparents at church this past weekend. Of course it was impossible to get everyone wearing them in a picture, but this will do for now.

IMG_3846-001

And just as Greta is getting her new top tooth, Felicity is getting that same tooth in her mouth. It will be a race to see who’s is all the way in first.

Greta somehow has a talent for words, despite the fact that she has two engineer parents. Almost every birthday card she makes has a unique poem made up just for that person. Here is one of my recent favorites she wrote.

I’m hoping to start picnicking again soon, so if you are local and want to join us for any picnics this spring/summer, come join my facebook group so we can discuss some locations. I can’t wait for the warmer weather. We have had a few nice days, but it is still too cool for my liking.

This picture makes me smile.
