Back when the Pope came to Philly, the older two had three days off of school since they go to a diocesan school. We decided that taking everyone down to the craziness was too overwhelming for us, so we planned a beach weekend. We didn’t really do much beach time this summer and the girls really wanted to. We were able to get a place on the beach for a decent price and not have to stay an entire week. It turned out the weather was kind of chilly. The wind was crazy and so we didn’t get a whole lot of beach time. The waves were really rough, so we couldn’t go in very far, but when they girls are telling you it is warmer to lay in the water than to be out of the water, you know it is pretty chilly. Each time we went down to the beach we lasted a shorter amount of time. Towards the end Felicity started screaming every time we even attempted, so she mostly didn’t go the last two days. But we had a good time exploring Long Beach Island without the crowds of summer. We ate some yummy seafood, Eloise and Matt climbed to the top of the lighthouse, the older three played mini golf until Beatrice got whacked in the head with a golf club, and got lots of ice cream.
Here are a few pictures.
Greta and Eloise are both playing soccer this year. They seem to be having fun, but both say they aren’t playing next year. Of course Greta said the same thing last year and she played again this year, so who knows what next year will hold. We play at our church and it is super low key. For Pre-k through 2nd grade they all play together. For games they put the pre-k and kindergarten kids together and the 1st and 2nd grade kids together. Here are some pictures from the first few games.
Beatrice is taking dance for the first time, so I made sure to take a picture or two of her before her first class. She loves it and wants to go everyday.
Greta is taking jazz this year and Eloise is taking tap. They are super disappointed that there aren’t pictures of their first day, but we don’t need first day of dance pictures every single year.
School has been in session for over a month and I haven’t posted first day pictures. So here they are. Eloise had gym on the first day, so had to wear her gym uniform.
Beatrice didn’t start school until about 2 weeks after her sisters. She had a rough first two days, but after that did totally fine and walks in without saying goodbye most of the time.
I’m not sure if there is anyone who reads my blog, but isn’t on facebook, but for those who aren’t. Yesterday my Dad got a new liver! Thanks to the person who died and generously donated his organs, my Dad now has a second chance at life. So far everything is going as planned for recovery. He still has a long road ahead, but we are very grateful that he has this chance. If everything continues to go as planned, he will be able to attend my sister’s wedding in November.
We are continuing to pray that his healing goes well and his body adapts to it’s new organ and of course praying for the family who lost a loved on. Less than 12 hours after the surgery was complete, the nurses had Dad up and out of bed walking the halls.
