oops
Monday 22 October 2007 at 3:46 pm Sorry I haven't been writing much lately, that is what happens when I fly and drive all over the place and have no internet. I was in San Antonio for a couple of days, then flew back to NC for Matt's defense. It went great, he passed in record time (ok maybe not record, but pretty darn quick). Now I am a doctor's wife :) We had a little shindig to say goodbye to everyone on Friday night. Saturday morning Matt flew to TX and I drove to Florida to see my parents. I am still here, I think I will be leaving on Wednesday to finish my drive. Then it is TX for the next long while. I must decide on an internet provider and make a few appointments about insurance and doctors and such. Then hopefully we will be mostly settled in. Matt is still working in Houston, so we will only see each other on the weekend, which is kind of a bummer, but hopefully soon enough he will be in San Antonio. I have another house post that needs to be written, but that probably won't happen until I am back in TX.safe and sound
Saturday 13 October 2007 at 07:17 am Albert and I made it to San Antonio in one piece. He was actually really good on the flight and didn't cry at all once we took off. I am sitting in the rental car using a coffee shops free internet access. We haven't decided what internet we are going to get so we don't have it set up yet and none of our neighbors have unsecure networks, how rude. In a few minutes I am heading to meet the movers at the storage unit to unload most of our stuff. We will then load the stuff that is going to the apartment onto another smaller truck and head over to the apartment. I think things will feel a little more comfortable once we have our stuff back. Albert seems to hate the empty apartment so far, although he is enjoying investigating the place. Our apartment isn't bad, but I can tell parking is going to be a problem. And boy am I glad we have smallish cars, because the parking spots are small, and sometimes it takes me two or three cycles to get out of the spot.Tomorrow I may go do some actual exploring. There are a bunch of places near our apartment to eat and shop, which is nice.
And the winner is...
Wednesday 10 October 2007 at 8:03 pm Christina with 140 boxes. Congratulations!! I have to admit I was a little disappointed in the guesses you guys gave, they were so low. We ended up with around 180 boxes (I think 182). Apparently we have a lot of stuff. I will say that when the movers came on Tuesday they packed 50 boxes of breakables. I was kind of surprised they packed so many boxes. I guess movers like to put as few things into one box as possible because then they can charge you for more boxes. There were a couple of boxes that had only one thing in them, such as the deer head and the microwave. But they still count as one box.Now I am sitting in a mostly empty house. There are a few things in the closets that will be traveling with me by car, and an air mattress for me to sit and sleep on. Tomorrow is a day of cleaning, then Friday morning I head to San Antonio by plane. I will meet the movers on Saturday morning to get all of our lovely stuff. Who knows what the future holds...
packing part 2
Sunday 07 October 2007 at 6:28 pm Something happened to my original packing post. For some reason the whole blog keeps disappearing. I have no idea what is happening, but it appears to have deleted at least a few post. So I will create a new one for guessing. We are having a little contest to guess how many boxes of stuff we have. I gave a few clues a while back, so feel free to look at those if you can find them. The size of each box varies greatly from tiny to jumbo. They all count as one box. We have 6 rooms that are very full of stuff. You have until Wednesday at 5 pm EST to get your votes in. The prize will be something from San Antonio. One final hint: the movers are packing all the breakable things (I don't really know if that helps, but whatever). Those of you who have already submitted your guesses can continue to submit a new estimate until that time. I have all of your old guesses saved as well, even though the post disappeared. So get your guesses in....happy guessing. Honestly I have no idea how many we have, but I think it is a lot.
P.S. We are playing The Price is Right rules.
