eventful day

Monday 26 November 2007 at 4:43 pm Today we had an ultrasound of Billie Bob. We got to seeing the baby moving around. We also saw the heartbeat (and heard it), the two brain lobes, sinuses, arms, legs, and fingers. The ultrasound was mainly to date the pregnancy. The estimate is 12 weeks 1 day as of today. We were estimating about 11 weeks 5 days, so I guess we were a little off, or else the ultrasound is a little off. Who knows. The baby should be due around June 8 or so. Here are the pictures we got! In the bottom right you can see Billie Bob waving at us (or just holding his/her hand in the air). I didn't label anything, but I think it is pretty self explanatory.

We also just placed an offer on a house. I will provide more details if/when it is accepted. All kinds of big things going on here.

Fate

Sunday 18 November 2007 at 7:43 pm Last night we went out to do a little shopping. We decided to stop at Best Buy just because. We have been wanting a Nintendo Wii for quite a while, but have never been able to find one or decided we shouldn't get one just yet, because we would be distracted from things we should be doing (like graduating :)). So we were wandering around and noticed that they had a bunch of Wii's sitting on the shelf. We decided to buy one and think about it overnight. When we were checking out the register guy said they had just put them out and they would be gone by morning. We think it must be fate that we happened to go to that particular Best Buy right after they put the Wii's out on the shelf. We finally set it up this afternoon. It is definitely fun. We need to invest in another controller or two, but for now this will work.

Friend on a Mission

Thursday 15 November 2007 at 11:42 am I have a dear friend, Mary Lee Cunill, who many of you know. She is embarking on a wonderful journey starting next January. She has decided to dedicate a year of her life to spreading the Word of God in Australia. She is sacrificing a great deal to be able to do this. She is giving up a wonderful job and leaving her family and friends behind at the age of 27. Most people who go on missions around the world are young and fresh out of school with no obligations (not that it isn't hard then). She will be traveling around Australia in a van with a group of young people putting on retreats for high school students. She will also be helping to organize World Youth Day, which is a huge world gathering of Catholic youth. It should be a phenomenal experience and I am extremely proud of her for taking this leap of faith. Before she leaves in January she has to raise $5400, which will help cover some of the costs of her volunteer trip. If you would like to help her on her way feel free to visit her website and donate. Mary Lee also has a more detailed description of her decision and the program.

Mary Lee is such a fun, caring, loving person. She always makes you feel at ease and is always ready with a smile and a hug. I am so excited for her to start this exciting chapter of her life.

surprise!

Friday 09 November 2007 at 2:49 pm For those who haven't heard, we are having a baby! Billie Bob (as we are currently calling him/her) should make an appearance next June. So far things are going just fine and dandy. I am tired, but not sick!!! In fact I am hungry all the darn time. I am getting tired of always wanting to eat, especially since I am trying to eat healthier and well healthy things get boring after a while. Most likely we won't be finding out the sex of the baby, so he/she will wear lots of yellow in the beginning. So for those out their with little ones, what books do you recommend? I am interested in books about birth, breastfeeding, and anything else. Both Matt and I know a lot about babies and taking care of them, but I don't know anything about how to physically have a baby or how to breastfeed a baby. We will be taking a birthing class at some point, but I would like to get a head start by reading up on it. I'm sure there are plenty of other things I don't know, like stuff about medicines and such, so books on that would be good as well. Thanks!

freezing

Tuesday 06 November 2007 at 10:01 am So you know how the Today Show is broadcasting from Antarctica and the Arctic Circle, where it is cold, very cold. In between segments, they do the little local news and weather thing. Our local weatherman today, right after a little blurb from either Antarctica or the Arctic Circle, said the cold front passed through and it is freezing today. Want to know what freezing is? 60 degrees and windy. These crazy Texans. I am definitely not above saying I am freezing, but it is definitely not freezing here. Maybe sometime soon I will download some recent pictures and post them, including my cousin playing high school football.
